About Us

Delivering newspapers in our community for generations

Fourways News Distribution is a family-run newspaper delivery business based in Penarth, serving homes and businesses across the local area.

Our own family has been at the heart of the business since 1996, but the history behind Fourways stretches back much further — all the way to the beginnings of newspaper retail in Penarth.

Today, we are focused entirely on what we do best: providing a reliable, convenient newspaper delivery service to our local community.

A little bit of history

Our story can be traced back to 105 Glebe Street, Penarth, where Mrs Susan Pasley opened a bookseller, stationer and newsagent in 1878.

Trading as S. Pasley, the shop is recorded as Penarth's first newsagent and became part of the fabric of Glebe Street for generations. Newspapers, magazines, stationery and other everyday essentials passed across its counter, while newspaper deliveries became an important part of the business.

Over the years the shop changed hands and evolved, eventually becoming the business many local residents would know as Fourways News.

The Gough family – since 1996

In 1996, the Gough family took over the business and continued both sides of its long-established operation: the traditional newsagent on Glebe Street and the newspaper delivery service serving customers throughout Penarth.

For almost three decades, Fourways News remained a familiar part of the local high street, while every morning our delivery rounds continued behind the scenes.

Thousands of early starts, newspapers and doorstep deliveries later, that delivery service has become the foundation of the business we operate today.

We estimate we have delivered over 5 million papers since we took over in 1996.

A new chapter for Fourways

In 2025, after almost 30 years running the retail shop, our family sold its interest in the store and made the decision to concentrate entirely on the newspaper delivery side of the business.

Rather than marking the end of Fourways, it marked the beginning of its next chapter.

Fourways News became Fourways News Distribution — a dedicated newspaper delivery business built around the service that had already been part of our operation for decades.

Since then, we have continued to grow, expanding our delivery area, services and customer base while investing in making newspaper delivery simpler and more reliable for both residential and commercial customers.

Fourways today

Although the business has changed considerably since Mrs Pasley first opened her doors in 1878, the principle behind it remains remarkably similar: making sure local people can get the newspapers they want, conveniently and reliably.

Today we provide home newspaper delivery across CF64, alongside newspaper and magazine supply services for local retailers and businesses.

We combine the personal service of a local family business with a modern delivery operation, including straightforward account management, flexible delivery options and dependable early-morning rounds.

And while you may no longer find us behind the counter at 105 Glebe Street, we are still doing something Fourways has done for generations.....

getting the morning paper into the hands of our customers.

Local then. Local now.

From a small newsagent on Glebe Street in 1878, to the Gough family taking over in 1996, and now to a dedicated newspaper distribution business, Fourways has continually evolved while remaining firmly rooted in the local community.

We are proud of where we have come from — and even more excited about where we are going next.
